More Google woes..
A 200 word ..essay/story led me/us to looking a pictures we took in Tassie..note..australia post, not a few years ago now in Western Australia, wouldn’t accept Tassie as a destination..sigh, it could be tasmania..or tas..but I digress. Muggins found soldiers trees and associated plaques in Avoca, that the honeybun found suitable..providing we could get some sort of ..evidence maybe.. Well! It wasnt that long ago, that a query to google would give you two million answers, and it took a while to craft your enquiry in such a way that you received..meaningful answers. I thought that that was in the bad old days. Hah! There are Avocas all over the place! So, the tassie variety was my preference…then if you asked for avoca tasmania soldiers trees plaques….um..every word adds about half a million answers…The most frustrating answer was …avoca tas…every soldier has a tree and a plaque. Straight forward? Nah. note the..dot dot dot between tas and every?..its there! THAT means..that google can’t find the answer on..One website, so google looks at Two websites, and sort of melds it all together. The first website was a general..here we are in Avoca website, the second..talks about the Queens Domain…in Hobart. The obvious choice..to me at any rate, would have been the Australian war memorial website…but that was down for maintenance…during the daytime?!! albeit on a Sunday…Finally, the thought that had been rumbling away unnoticed was..noticed. And that was..a search for images might be a betterer option, and lead to a visual search. Mr Google still demanded careful wording…and there were lots of pictures of Avoca on the web..but finally! trees with plaques pictures made their appearance. Boy!
Thanks to my honeybun for this picture…
And..a subscriber to the…Australian War Museum…website had stuck up two thousand odd pictures of war memorials around Australia, including several mimicing our pictures.. Awesome! A final word here, that Mama Mia movie does better justice to the dot dot dot..scenario! Cheers!
