Black Kitties 10
Here we are at the home town..family farm and all that. We had a barn with 2 downstairs rooms, one small upstairs and a large lean to on one side..all ancient and lots of holes to look through. And rafters along which..if you were an enterprising rat..you could scurry, drop little black bundles everywhere, and generally stink the place out. We also had a tank or two, one with barley in it, the other with field peas, or grey peas…them being brown in colour…So the tank with the grey peas in wasn’t all that full..and on occasion you’d get a few rat rat ratties running around the peas, unable to get out. Enter the hero of the hour, Black Megs. Normal farm type kitties grew up with a diet of milk on occasion, occasional leftovers, water here and there, bits of sheep..and..not a lot of anything else, because they seemed to be rather good at mousing and ratting. Black Megs was a city kitty..heh..might have seen a meece at a distance. So, he got dropped into the tank..to see what would happen. Rats know all about kitties, the best defense was..attack if possible, and hide if not. Said rat got one bite attempt in..and then was laying flat with a broken ..essential to the well being of a rat that this bit remain unbroken thingy. wot a clever kitty!
