First 2020
2020 has dutifully arrived. H’officially like.
December news, and some 2020 stuff…
Bird feeder attracted lots and lots of the local doves..but not that many that our little Megsy wasnt able to partake of the..whateveritisthatthese parrots like. Largish seeds eh. the occasional Lorikeet, usually a few of them at the one time.
I’d say they look down their beaks at this mundane fare, after all, the ones in Cleveland were used to bread and honey mix. That is luxurious Lorikeet tucker. Used to attract heaps of them, and they made a fair racket into the bargain.
Megsy was a frequent visitor to Tanderra st, and, on occasion, a mate and/or an offspring would accompany her. Simply delightful. We moved here, and it didnt take long for the crew to find us again. Young Blue, seems to be a northern kookaburra, ..you can hand feed her! Heap of other Kooks.
Not many butcher birds, thank goodness, although we aquired some more upon arrival. Been several more generations produced since we got here. Darn things are noisy at the best of times.
And, of course, Magpies. The soup kitchen insists on feeding them, although the males get short shrift, on account of they just eat, whereby the females take most of it home to the nest. and insist on feeding their offspring as close as they can to a ready and reliable source of…mince meat. We seemed to have attracted four brownish magpies..and attract suitable names along the way. Dumb as dogshit was one memorable monniker..
I digress.
The bird feeder also has attracted homing pigeons of late. They have not long taken up residence locally. Sods. So, the whole flock descends. Sigh, and I’m not feeding the blighters any more, either. Next thing is to figure out how to achieve this…current thinking is..sunflower seeds. Parrot tucker, should do the trick I would have thought. And, after they get used to nooo pigeon tucker, I may be able to reintroduce smaller seed.
Great photos of all the kids.
