First for a looong time
My goodness, has been a while!
Today…well, sunday, when the next day we will find out if we have dodged another Covid bullet
Every time I start this blog, it degenerates into..Covid stuff. Sigh 🙂
Admittedly, this has overshadowed us all, from the word go. Host of flow-on affects..economic, social…
Been devastating for some.
Deaths before their time sort of stuff.
Loss of work, loss of job, loss of self esteem..loss of..in not a few cases, common sense.
After all..its been a while since Aussies have had this level of attrition, and have been asked to pull their horns in for the Greater Good.
Host of young people answered the call to help mother England out in World War I.
Another host of people answered the call for world war II.
Various voluntary contributions have been solicited for not a few occasions since then. Comparisons have been drawn between the 1918 flu pandemic, and the current Covid pandemic. The way we handled it then. the differences, the symptoms. Subsequent deaths, attributable to dodgy decisions made by the powers that be, then and now.
The deaths that have been avoided, due to the decisions made, then and now.
Remarkable stories are circulating. People who have acted ahead of time, at odds to what the current thinking was..and official advice in a case or two, and have been proven correct. Their nay-sayers have been silenced. Most strident critics have sort of..disappeared.
Another Covid stuff rant/rave. Another sigh.
So, we have behaved ourselves. Done the right thing. Practised social distancing..and probably will for quite a few months yet. We tend to wait a fortnight from the latest act of idiocy, when further cases should arise if they are going to..breathe a sigh of relief, and…do another day trip, to little towns ..mostly west up to now.
A two day stint coming up, towards a certain natives’ birthday 🙂
We have had to cancel a few great trips…and one or two we intend to actually do “later on”. We avidly watched a few television shows to death…mostly chef type ones. Young Ahn Dho is back tuesday nights…yeah! I do like the lad. We saw him at RPAC..month or eight ago now…RPAC is Clevelands answer to..QPAC. Much prefer to see shows locally, whereby a short car trip is in order, versus a trip to a train station, a 3/4 hour train trip there and 3/4 hour trip back, and we get in late, and wake up bleery eyed next morning.
Oh, the PAC bit is Performing Arts Centre, and the Q and R are..R for Redlands..local, and Q is Queensland..in Brisbane CBD.
So, the Lorikeets have found a new merry-go-round. We have a couple of locals, that demand that they have it to themselves. Whenever a heap of squarking and hullabaloo happens out the back, we know what the problem is. Must admit, its a treat to see the ..imported..pigeons seen off, bits of their feathers floating in their wake.
Not so the others..so we now have another merry-go-round on the ground underneath. Full of seed, so at least there shouldn’t be as much racket now!
Fingers crossed!
