Jigsaws
The HoneyBun has indicated..thats its now Time for another Blog.
Well,subject matter. Hmmm.
Recent events..visitors? -were delightful, PROBably not a great idea for People with a sense of Privacy to have their details splashed over social media..such that this is.. so..more personal type stuff.
Welll
Jigsaws!
In my days at Hobart Tech, I got into the habit of getting a huuuuge jigsaw for the summer break, until tech started again in the new year. Got one from Vinnies,..rather picturesque scenery, except that there was no grass bits there, and the results were a tad…incomplete! Move forward a few years, and here we are in sunny Queensland.
First one was..pandas. Framed, was hanging in the kitchen/dining room. Now, since the move, in a little walk-in robe type affair.

Over the last four years, five coming up, I have done ten or twenty or so. Some of them framed, others glued onto white cardboard, others simply dismantled, put back into boxes, and posted through the hole in the wall. (Local scout hall, in Ormiston, and recycled by Rotarians at their next bookfest.) After a while, a bloke gets a tad more discerning. Checks the box for obvious markings, eg, one or two bits missing, that sort of thing, and larger the better. Interesting ones, about dragons perhaps.
The latest one was a Tom Dubois one, and featured Noahs Ark.
Took me yonks to finish, read months, not days or weeks. Within a week, I had assembled a cloud, and the bit in the middle..wasnt obviously there. I have been fooled before, sigh..but not this time. Only one bit missing..the angels face in the cloud. Took so long to do, I am a tad reluctant to dismantle it, labelling one bit missing, or to frame it..with the one bit missing. Hmm..could fudge a piece, colour it in, might look close enough…in the meantime, its sitting in the mancave. On a desk. With a dragon jigsaw still in its box next to it..
Over the computer desk hangs the..heh..bestest jigsaw ever, a Marina, complete with..oh..50 or 100 yachts, all tied up, bare poles against the sky. Does look a treat. This new house hasn’t the picture hooks in place like the ..tanderra st address had. So, there are lots of jigsaws Assigned to the ..walkin robes, along with Errols and others. John Waynes. Movie posters, that sort of thing.
Now, there might be a someone..relative, who would enjoy the Noahs scenery…but do I send it down in a box, knowing that there is a bit missing? Or Still Assembled, in a frame, or glued? And are they into jigsaws anyway? I have no idea. So, it’ll sit there until a Decision is made, aaaand not necessarily by yours truly, either! I had reached a similar sort of impasse previously, and what happened there was..sheet of plywood over the top, and the next jigsaw on that. Does work, that way. Until the layers get..up a bit, seven or eight maybe, and..you can’t really have big jigsaws on top of little ones, so you have to sort them in size order..then the occasional mishap, where a few bits fall out from one in the middle, requiring a Rescue operation. Gets a bit complex, that does, and its then that the decision is made to ..sort them all out. Energy put into one made months ago isn’t as onerous anymore, and its a lot easier to..post it through the hole in the wall then…:)
