We got through learners..and it was good, Learnt heaps. Some people drop out part way through..some come back for seconds..some drop out and have another turn all over again..I ended up being a regular at learners anyway. You’re not too bad at it, Bill, you don’t try and tell them what to do, thats the callers’ job! Gets confusing otherwise.. So. Dancing..pretty much the same where-ever you go..guys aren’t overly keen, and its the girls that love it for the most part. So, on a typical square dance night, you’d have..2 or 3 sets or thereabouts turn up en total..and usually more girls than guys. Girl with a partner kept a pretty close eye on him..on account of she was able to have as many dances as she wanted to, but iffnen you a single girl, without a partners anyways, you had to take your chances. Odds were, that you’d sit down for half the night, while the rest of them had a great time. On occasion, you might only have the 3 sets there..but more girls than guys…which meant if you didn’t want to have 8 disappointed people..one or more of the girls had to dance as a guy. And, single girls were used to this. They didn’t really appreciate it, mind you..us single lot would try and mix it up so these ones got a proper dance here and there.
