Familiar looking photo!

So, we have a photo, been in the public domain since at least 2005, so, I’d imagine, any copyright is basically extinguished..sadly.
So this photo..is brilliant..shows a map of Australia including Tasmania, in the form of a puddle.
Gained lots of likes, shares, and admiration. A few detractors..you’d expect that, in this day and age. Most of them are content with..yeah nah..photoshopped..fake, one or two lines, maybe. This time, we have a..person..who wants to prove a point. Produces a magnified shot of the photo, and claims that the grainy appearance is due to being altered..or words to that effect.
So, we have a..me.., who claims to have taken the photo, in the early 2000s.
Then, we have a woman who claims to have proof that she took the photo in 2011, in NSW/QLD.
Muggins provides a link, which shows that the photo was sent to Snopes in ..oh, 2005 maybe.
So, I asked the girl about the photo she has..would be interesting, eh. Gone quiet, eh.
Unfortunately, Snope appears to have thought that the photo was taken in the Sudan…sheesh!
But, it did say that it couldn’t prove a fake or being altered…due, no doubt, to the photo originally being taken by a Kodak..takes a roll of film..yes, that kind of camera!
So, no digital data from the original photo..no gps, no type of camera, no date stamp…of course, as soon as you put a photo on the internet, we have ..data!..but only from when the photo was converted into that format. That camera wasn’t a top of the range camera..its photos wouldn’t stand up to much magnification as such.
I wonder where those negatives have gotten to..
So, apart from a few detractors..how could anyone take such a marvellous photo?..nah, don’t believe it!..the great majority say..great shot! Well done, that sort of thing.
Next question..how come we haven’t heard of..whatshisname and his photos before? Good question! Has he anymore awesome photos for us?
Probably not..this kind of shot doesn’t happen all that often..to me, at any rate. So, a fluke shot, in the right place at the right time. Another thing..any publicity is great.if you have a saleable product..bring it on! Ban a book! ban a song! ring up ACA about a shonky..whoever it is..chances are, that shonky…whoever it is, could gain materially from the media exposure..look at some of the books put out of late…

Actually, come to think of it, waay back, probably in the 1960s, there was an electrical storm over the water from the old homestead. Brilliant! Clouds being lit up, some with pink and orange hues. So, I got the Kodak out. I had only recently got myself an accessory; screw it into the..press-to-take-a-photo button, allows you to keep this button down until you release it; makes a time lapse photo. Think I may have been taking slides at the time. However, the results were spectacular….when the resulting slides came back..So, the aforesaid map wasn’t a one off! Nearest I remember was putting them in to be converted to photos….probably in Cambelltown, NSW, a chemist… Not there when I went back. However, down the track, years later, I spotted one picture of..lemme say of similar quality, had been entered in a competition. So, perhaps they didn’t end up lost, after all.
So, here on this website, are some of my photos. Feel free to have a browse! Doesn’t cost anything..apart from internet access fees maybe.
Lastly..it is nice when people say..great photos and or story….
